Tint on rear window fading..?
Tint on rear window fading..?
Hi
I have a 2003 Civic LX. It came with a factory tint job done by Honda when the car was purchased new. It appears as the film for the tint is starting to "fade" as there are spots on the inner rear window that are blurry and distorted. I'm have trouble seeing clearly out of my rear window at times.
Would the film just need to be replaced on the inner rear window and what would be involved in doing the job on my own vs going to the shop?
thanks...

well are you talking about bubbles? or turning colors like purple. in any case, the rear window is tricky because when they remove the old tint, they may strip out the defroster lines with it.

you should find a good tint shop that has someone with alot of experience, and make sure they use good brands of tint that wont fade or bubble.

Re: Tint on rear window fading..?
i had my sedan re-done and it turned out great...
take it to a professional and have them 'bag' it...
thats where they put plastic on all of the windows and seal them up with tape on the ends...then they spray water/tint-removal solution into the 'bagged' window (from the top unsealed ends)...then they seal the tops up and park the vehicle in the sun with the heater on full-blast...after about 45 min or so, they unbag it and the tint will peel-off easily...then they did a clean-up of all the mess from the removal and re-tinted...i was shocked as to how they got this to work
