Thinking of buying my first Honda, is this a good deal?
I'm looking for a hybrid with the HOV stickers. This car has it although it's not pictured. I know the hybrids keep their value which is why the high mileage ones are still so expensive.
This one has 7 years, 100,000 mile warranty powertrain warranty and 1 year bumper to bumper. Is this a good deal? Are there any big services scheduled?

i would never pay that, and alot of civic hybrid owners are very disappointed with gas mileage. some have reported getting only 26mpg in the city. higher ones are in the mid 30s to 40, which is basically like a regular car. most gas powered civics get 40 mpg on the highway and are much cheaper. every 5 yrs or so, you will pay thousands ($4-5k) to replace the battery packs.

thanks for the input. the main purpose of getting the car would be the access to the HOV lane, the gas mileage would be an added bonus. i think the powertrain warranty would cover any problems with the battery.

Are they to the point where batteries are becoming an issue yet? I remember not too long ago no one was worrying about them because hybrids had only been out for a couple of years. Right from the beginning I always got a chuckle out of these tree huggers thinking they were saving the environment by driving prius' when one day their batteries would crap out and have to be disposed of.

if anything i would go with the prius instead, far superior car to the honda hybrid. but yeah the batteries are always an issue, they will not last forever and its very bad for the environment to dispose of them. the warranty may cover the first replacement, but thats it. so unless you only plan to keep the car for a few yrs, i would say dont get it. just dont buy one to say "i love the environment" because thats a bunch of bs

the whole way it was built. it gets a ton better gas mileage, better acceleration, alot more electronic monitors (some say its overly complicated), and far fewer problems overall. many people get over 50mpg on average, but can go even higher if you try and follow the gauges and displays in the car. if i had to get a hybrid today, it would be prius for sure.
