Multiple electrical issues
I have an '01 LX that I've owned since it had 10km on it. It has been a fairly reliable car (minus the 3 sets of warrantied struts) but has been progressively getting worse (I know its 8 years old!). I think that there is an underlying electrical problem that is the root of all of my car's problems.
1) Check engine light is on (I know how to reset it but haven't lately).
2) SRS light is on (I've read how to reset it but haven't yet - OR - my dog has unfortunately face planted
into the passenger airbag a handful of times during quick stops, even though the bag has never deployed could this make the car think that it is deployed)
3) Hand brake light is on but turns off while firmly holding the brake down. When brake is not firmly held then the light comes back on.
4) Key (Immobilizer?) light flashes occasionally (have a car starter installed with an over-ride of the immobilizer - but light should always be off).
5) Cruise control will not work IF the headlights are on (works fine during day).
The cruise and key problems happened first, a year later the hand brake, followed by the SRS and maintenance around the same time. Has anyone had a similar stack of problems? I don't think its too likely that the car could have these 5 problems all at the same time. Any ideas of where to start looking for the root problem? Any positive input would be much appreciated!
