Battery/Alternator Problem
Well i've been searching here all night since it happened and cant seem to figure out what it might be. This week i've noticed my Batt light coming on when i start the car in the morn but it goes off and doesn't come back on after i hit like 3.5k in first gear. I assumed it was my batt going (its an 02 ex which i bought with 15k miles in aug so everything on it was original). yesterday when i was abt to go out the light was on and it went out when revved but came back on at idle so i took my girls civic for the day. When i came back to take it home i got like 2 miles down the road and the gauges died so i turned back and barely made it back to her house. this is at like 9pm so i had my lights on. car started bogging and i couldnt rev match to shift so i got it in 2nd and ran it home w/ no headlights. Now i thought it might be the batt b/c its old but im debating if it could be the alt. I didnt hear any sounds of it dying but i do have my system in it and play it loud often( not much just an alpine amp w/ a rockford Punch stage 3 12"). My dads gonna get a batt 4 me b/c i got to go to work in a few hrs but can anyone help me here? does the alt die w/o any sounnds of failure?

Re: Battery/Alternator Problem
obviously an alternator problem. the only time that batt light comes on is if the car isnt getting enough power. then you start to use just the battery until it too dies, and youre done. when you rev it the alt may put out a lil bit more power, but then at idle it stops again. one day i was driving around and the light came on just like that, dead alternator. took maybe a few seconds to happen. but i was able to drive on battery for a few miles to bring to a shop.

Re: Battery/Alternator Problem
the autozone ones are expensive too, but it really doesnt matter. our alternators barely put out 70 amps so its not like you need the best one. the shop just put something generic in mine and so far its lasted longer than oem.

Well i guess u were right. my batt was old so my dad bought a new one and started the car and as soon as he pulled the neg terminal it died. Now w/ my system should i bother lookin in to a HO alt? I have a feeling thats what killed it. i dont want this 2 happen again in a few months
