Idle surging with other problems HELP!

Idle surging with other problems HELP!
Well i just got this 01 civic and at idle i can hear a relay ticking sound on the passenger side under the dash and the rpms drop then go back up, Also as soon as this started hapening it wont shift and i had to drive it home in d1,the rpm guage stays at 0 when in gear aswell.. the battery light stays on but the car starts fine so im not thinking its the battery.. Mabe a sensor or relay? Anyone have any idea what could be causeing this problem?! Thanks for any help!

can you take it to an auto store and have them run a scanner on it? Some of them also do free electronic diagnostics as well. It all really depends what is in your area. I am sure someone else will chime in on this though. Welcome to the site.
