no warm air

My daughter owns a 2002 Civic DX. I've noticed that when the **** that directs the air flow is placed in position to direct warm air at your feet, nothing comes out. It seems to come from the a/c vents instead. Could there be a loose or broken vacuum line? My wife was with me and said she felt warm air on the passenger side. Any ideas?

Possibly something blocking the vent or the little blue cable that opens the vent when the solenoid is actuated is malfunctioning. Hard to say for sure, but my guess is a blockage since you can feel it on one side and not the other.

I'm not really familiar with the car since it isn't mine, it this cable easy to get at? My daughter said it has been like this for some time and she just lives with it. If it were my car it would annoy the heck out of me with warm air blowing in my face.
