has anyone's "check engine" light come on yet?
has anyone's "check engine" light come on yet? Mine did after a 2000 mile trip last week, and i can't figure out why it's on? Can anyone sugest anything that might help me? I got my oil changed before i left and i checked it last night and it still looks good. I have about 19100 miles on it and if that light is anything like the "service required" light the problem might not be anything at all. But anyway, i need to figure it out, soon. make sure your gas cap is tightened enough. if its not, tighten it and the light will go off after a few trips (not right away)
the check engine light isnt like the maintenance required light, it means there is actually a problem, so if its not because of the gas cap, take the car to the dealer

Yeah, it was the gas cap, it wasn't put on tight enough by my girlfriend when she filled it. I'm just glad it wasn't anything else

Well if it comes on again u should take it bak to the dealership
i had the same problem, and it was because of the evaporative shutoff valve or something like that, but its very common to the civics

my engine check light came on. but that was due to my alarm. thats what they said.
and when it came on again due to teh alarm. i just waited till i changed my oil and said that they did it and it wasn't there before i brought it in. cause they said they would charge me for it if they had to reset it again cuase of my mistake. my mistake my

i have about 23000 miles on it and that light hasen't come one yet and the olny time my SRS light comes on is when I start my car up. I havent had as many problems as you guys and gals and I am just now starting to hear so of those rattles that have been posted. If i were to take it to the dealer ship would they fix it even though I have a sub in the back which might be the cause of some of the rattling.

Mine came on at 8000 miles, its like the cars own trip meter, they are supposed to reset it when you get your oil changed, but they forgot the first time they did mine. all you do is with the key COMPLETELY OFF push and hold the trip meter reset button, then after a few seconds turn the key to the run position. wait about 15 seconds, and release. now turn the ignition off. now you can turn the ignition to the on position or start the car, it shouldnt be on anymore, if it is, try again. hope this helps.
Eternalvtec: That's the maintenance light procedure you 're describing. The issue here is with the "check engine" light. This is much more serious and need to be looked at by the dealer who resets your computer to get it of it (unless it's a loose gas cap).
I 've had 3 check engine lights:
1. 8k mi - Loose/defective clamp on the fuel line that leaves the gas tank - was replaced
2. 13k mi - Dealer replaced Evaporator shut valve
3. 19k mi - Dealer replaced Evaporator bypass valve
4. 24k mi. - This was a Generator light - Alternator was making a loud whistling noise - Dealer replaced alternator who said it would 've left me stranded at any moment, as the bearing inside was totally busted.
Anyone have any problems with the fuel gauge? Mine recently started going up really slow after I filled the tank up. Today it took it 7-8min. to go up to Full. It was a matter of 10sec. before..
