Revving, but no speed?

Revving, but no speed?
My cars reving all the way to 6000 fine but i dont pick up any speed (i dont mean mind blowing speed) for sum reason, and when i take off from the lights i seem to be very slow off. is this the sign of a slipping cluch?
also is there away to change the gear ratios to gain more top speed?

I'll bet dollars to donuts its your clutch. If you're not getting oomph on takeoff and your RPMs rise after 6K but your speed doesn't, the clutch is slipping.
