ABS Light is on
i noticed today while driving round that my ABS light was on, now the book says its no big deal but take to the dealer as soon as u can now, im just curious how the hell the thing came on. Maybe it just glitched but wondering if possibly i did something, if this has happened plz let me know, not an emergency but irritating none the less.

does "ABS" or the "BRAKE" (i think its like "(!)" for our buds up north) light come on when you are low on fluid. In my old car it was the "BRAKE" indicator, but I've never been low on brake fluid in my 2k1 to notice....

the manual says nothing of the light coming on when fluid is low. Plus i honestly couldnt tell u if the light has come on from low fluid, its the ABS light not the BRAKE light.

i was just wondering if in our cars the ABS light comes on instead of the BRAKE light... check the fluid level just in case, but take it to the dealer when you get a chance, just to be a-ok... I needed ABS yesterday when it was hailing bad here, and it was there thankfully....
I'm not sure about my Civic but I had a '95 Accord LX with ABS and it actually had 2 seperate resevoirs. One was for the regular brakes, and the other was the resevoir for the ABS module 2 totally seperate systems. My ABS resevior had a minute leak and about every other month my ABS light would come on letting me know I was low on ABS fluid. On the contrary if your regulary brake bluid is low, your regular brake light will come on since that's not part of the ABS system. Only ABS related problems will cause the ABS light to come on.
if the lights on that generally means there is an electrical problem in the abs system. i had the same problem you did. i brought my car to a dealer and it turnd out one of the abs system connections was loose by th driver side front wheel . they reconnected it and i haven't had the problem since. bring your car to the dealer when the abs light is on and they will plug in a reader to your cars computer. it will give them a code to locate the problem. its a free five minute fix!
