Aem V2 - Car Automatically Goes!
Aem V2 - Car Automatically Goes!
I just installed the aem v2. today, my car went crazy. the gas pedal was completely useless. i could push it down all the way and no response. the problem was that the car was accelerating by itself! when i braked, it still accelerated! i almost got killed! is there anything wrong with my intake? i let the engine cool for a bit, wiggled around the IAT sensor, and the car worked until i got home. i'm not gonna try the car again until i know the problem. here's my intake and the IAT sensor. is it suppose to be this loose? i can't get it to go any longer.

I'm aware there's a throttle you can move by your hand in the engine bay and it moves fine, now that the car is working.
how could i avoid this problem in the future?
how do i ensure that the throttle doesn't get stuck (if this is indeed the problem)?

sorry about the double post
sorry about the double post
i had the same issue when i installed my intake and basically what was happening was the throttle cable was getting stuck on my hose clamp when it got past a certain point... luckily i have a manual and just pushed in my clutch and turned the car off till i figured it out.
I would have to say the the throttle cable is getting stuck, its highly unlikely that the butterfly in the throttle body got wedged open as you only installed the intake. Solution - Try spraying some lube on the exposed cable near the TB.
thanks for your help. i've searched around and have come to another dilemma: how do you guys think i fixed it? i remember only messing with my IAT sensor (is this the prob) and also moving the throttle thing with my hand, and it worked.
here's a guy with my same problem:http://autorepairexchange.tribe.net/...9-4c7d3c3807ae
in the post, another person suggests that:
If the vacuum hose to the brake booster came off the intake manifold, is cracked or broken or if the brake booster has a bad diaphragm it could certainly cause this condition. not only would it cause your engine to rev up uncontrolably, it would cause your breaks to function poorly and require a huge amount of effort to stop the vehicle. look for a hose about 1/2 to 3/4 of and inch in diameter going from the intake manifold to a canister on the driver side of the engine compartment at the fire wall. Check to make sure it's connected at both ends and has to leaks or cracks.
This could also be caused by the throttle plate sticking open. Either due to a hung or stuck throttle cable, or mechanical damage. If the vehiche has cruise control there is another cable involved in actuating the throttle that could be causing the problem. The cruise control stepper motor could also be stuck in one position.
There is also an item called an idle air control motor or solenoid (also known as an IAC), located near the throttle body which can often stick in position if it becomes dirty internally...sometimes they have even been known to come apart due to wear. If it only does the reving when its not in gear this is a likely scenario as depending on the position it may be stuck at you might not notice it in normal driving.
could my problem involve a brake booster?

one more thing, would a loose IAT sensor cause this problem? and for those who have a v2 on their 05 lx, is the sensor suppose to be pretty loose, mine wiggles quite a bit, but before it is able to come out, there's a little thing i have to overcome

its just the throttle cable getting stuck on something. make sure it is completely clear and all wires have been tied away from it. move the levers all the way forward (open) and see what it touches.
i apoligize for my stupidness all. i discovered the problem. i took the intake off, it had packing peanuts there... i think static attached some to the inner tube and i didnt' see it. took them out, works perfect. i was told that the peanuts, if they went into the engine, would burn away. so theres no damage there right?
also, before i fixed this, the day i was driving, i had to stop and go really fast (foot up/foot down on brake). did i destroy my torque converter? OR my transmission?
once again, i apoligize for wasting your time. i feel like such an ***.

o my holy crap...
how do you call yourself a man!?!?!?!
the best thing about any new part that comes packed in packing peanuts is blowing them all out like you have some sort of super trumpet or something...
my good.. the mess i made.. i think i spent like 2-3 hours packing my intake full of peanuts and blowing them all over the place.. it was great...
eesh... but yeah.. you need to watch for stuff like that.. might wanna get an oil change just to be safe... if packing peanuts got by you then theres always the chance that a staple or something like that might have also gotten in there...
