Did the car finally start? It could just be the cold.

Gee, is that it? lol

It sounds like it could be the cold weather. When you say it wouldn't start, what do you mean. Did it turn over or make any noise at all? Or was it more like it was trying to start, but just wouldn't finish turning over?

Not that cold??? Have you lost your mind. I live in Texas, and a few times when it drops down to like the low 30's my car needs a second try to get it started. It's probably the cold....if it continues to happen just take it in. It's under warranty.

Your still breaking in the car and the engine so dont trip. Like APS said, if it gives more problems then take it in. I doubt it will. Mine did the same at the time but now runs and starts great. Dont worry too much.

That doesn't sound right. It might be just a fluke but the cold, no way. btw -10 Celsius is 14 Farenheit

That's not normal. This entire winter my car has had split second start-up, even when it went down to -20 celsius in the mornings.

WTFBjTCH: Nothing wrong with the car.... happened to me already but as far as I can remember it only happened once. It didn't start after 2 tries but then after I let it sit for a while then it finally started. Don't worry, it never happened to me ever again and it shouldn't happen to you anymore. If it does then that's faaaked, bring it in. This problem is common and alot of the people I've talked to had this experience with their 7th gen.

i had mine do that a few times too when it was really cold, but it was always when the gas was low, i'm not talking about riding on fumes, but around 3 gal. or less. i don't know if that makes any difference, but that's my experience.

<< damn,

hhahahahahaa i've gone skiing in -29C (that was the temp before wind chill) - i love the cold!!

as for the engine not starting thing - these civics are equipped with some sort of spectacular gas tank which i believe has some sort of safety feature built in - basically what this all means that when the gas tank is near empty, it might take 5-10 seconds for the gas tank to pull itself together and send gas to the engine!... So if your gas tank was running low, that's quite likely your problem. Run a search on the Vehicle Issues/Problems forum because someone gave the technical definition of what I just said in there

Hope this helps,

~B

WTFBjTCH....its happened to me before too....theres only 2 problems it could be...

1) Do u have any magnetic devices on your key chain? Example...GYM Pass, Gas pass...or anything with a magnetic strip?

2) Honda said that if you have less with a half of tank of gas left, then u might have trouble starting your car....

Mine is because of number 1...i have a LA FITNESS pass, and it interferes with something..thats what american honda told me, they havent resolved this problem yet...

trust me it could be, because any magnetic devise on your key chain can cause interferance...i did a test...to see if they were right, so i put my gym pass next to the starter...and it wouldnt start...it had a lil trouble, so i removed it and it started...but ya thats the problem im pretty sure..but if u want u can ask american honda about it, they will prob tell u the same thing i said, but im not sure why it exactly happens..all i know is that it interferes with something, i forgot,...

Everything points to the battery. Started up fine all along, temperature dips below freezing, suddenly car is dead. Even if the headlights still work there might not be enough amps to start the car. Usually the standard batteries that are put in cars are not that heavy duty for cold weather either, it would not be that inconceivable for it to fail after a short cold period. It is certainly more likely that the battery is the problem than something like the alternator. I don't know if the battery is under the bumper to bumper warranty or whatever it separate like the tires, but it must be at least 12 months, so 2 months should not be a problem. I don't see it as something to be embarrassed about, just one of those things, that is peripheral to the car itself. So the first thing I would check would be the battery.

Did you get different shoes or anything? Anyway, mine wouldn't start because I was just a tiny bit off from pushing my clutch in all the way. Silly me. So, embarrassing.

exactly what i was thinking...points to the battery..can't be the magnetic thing...if it was then you wouldn't have any cranking at all...at that temperature, it adds some burden to the engine for it to start therefore it needs more cranking amps to start the car...

i am able to start my car everytime since i got my car a year ago, even when it was like -30 outside. But when it hits -20 or below, my car almost unable to start, maybe i park my car outside all the time. If i am you, i would take it to dealer and let them figure it out. BTW, i am from calgary also
