Welcome

1. that is normal to have that gap
2. it is a rubb guard, you can cut it off with scissors if it bugs you
3. no it doesn't need to be covered, it is just a ground wire, but you can alway upgrade it with a grounding wire kit off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...QQcmdZViewItem

yup all normal. i cut my tube off with scissors carefully and upgraded all the ground wires with 4 gauge cable and gold ring terminals. the grounds on this car are very poor and only get worse over time.

Cars have a negative - ground system so the negative off the battery is sent through the chassy. That open ground wire has no danger to any open parts because anymetal part touching the chassy is negative already. However! The only thing that can short that is the positive wire off the battery.

i made my own. but its basically just 4 gauge audio wire you can get anywhere at circuit city or something and then the ring terminals. i prolly have enough supply left to make you one for around $40 shipped. or you can buy the pieces (wire, battery clamp, rings) from www.partsexpress.com

Did you scrape the paint off when you did it or did you just ring ring connecters and put them on? Did you notice a difference in electrical things?
