A List of Problems!!!

Here is my story:
It has been raining bad for the past 3 days. Sunday night I was driving to the movies with my friend and hit a giant puddle! I am usually a careful driver but it was hard to see this puddle till the last second. I hit it and it looked like I was underwater for a second. Now I have a CAI. After hitting the puddle everything was still fine and the car handled smoothly.

After we got out of the movies I was hearing wierd vibration noises when slowing down. I have underbody neons and noticed one somehow got stuck between the muffler and the car. Since it was late I decided to take it off tomorrow morning.

The next day (Monday) I removed it and everything seemed fine and back to normal. Tonight (Tuesday) I drove to my girlfriends house while it was raining a little bit and avioded every puddle. When I went to go home, I turned the key and the car wouldn't start. All you would hear is a click and then nothing.

After freaking out, my girlfriends dad hit the starter with a hammer and the car started up. Going home was ok but when stopping at lights I would hear some vibrations comming from the hood and engine. The car wouldn't be shaking when it was happing it was only noise. It would only do it for about 2 seconds then become quiet.

I am going to get the car looked at tomorrow. Do you guys think I may have ruined the motor? I probably will have to buy a new starter since it seems like that maybe starting to go. Anyone have any suggestions on why I was hearing the vibration noise?

Sounds like your starter is gone... if you hydrolocked it, you'd know right away. Check your oil, and hope its not milky...
It could be just a wire that got torn in the water (how fast were you going?)
Hard to say!

I was going about 30mph so it was pretty fast to hit a big puddle. It finally stopped raining so I'll be able to look around. Any ideas at what can cause the vibration noise. It seems to happen when its in drive durning idling. Thanks

Vibration has to be something mechanical. What part of the car is the sound / vibration coming from. Do you drive an auto? Does the sound happen when you are in neutral or only in gear. Does it happen when turning at all or only when stopping in a straight line.

It sounds like it is comming from the front part of my exhaust. It happens when my car is warming up and for a couple seconds at idle. I have an Automatic and it seems to happen when sitting in drive at a light also. Turning it wont make the noise.

Is it a rattle or vibration. Rattle would be exhaust hitting against the body, rattle would be a loose part.

Well you don't feel anything when the noise is happening so i would say rattle. The guy I went to at the shop said he will check if any heat plates fell off and will tighten up the exhaust a bit. Think that will help?

If it rattles @ a stop just get out let it rattle pop the hood and listen. It could be the heat plates a little loose from warping and hitting water. Metal that is burning hot getting hit with cold water could def warp the heat pipe / covering. With your engine cool just poke around undernath the car. Sometimes the simple answer could be it.

maybe the shocks werent indexed properly (matching up the arrows on the housing and the strut).

yeah could be.... i noticed that where you adjust the strut, its leaning a bit against one side. i was told that the spring might not be aligned properly. but i dont know what the spring had to do with it?

p.s nice ride, got a 4dr myself. where did you get your lip kit?
