Radio Code

OK, I checked the thread and no one has the same problem as me.

My aftermarket radio was stolen and my insurance would only replace the factory radio. Well I sold my factory, so the repair place that fixed my window and replaced my radio didn't give me the code. I did some work on my car and I disconnected the radio and now the code appears on the radio. So checking the glove compartment, door jam, and trunk lip are out of the question. Anybody know where I can get the code. I'm sure if I take it to a dealership they will give me problems. Can anybody help? Are there any technicians on this site?

As far as I know only someone at the dealership can get it. I think. I seem to remember someone had a website that had the codes by serial number, but it may have been for something else. If you go in and explain to the dealership (and show proof) that it was because of insurance reasons I'd think they would be helpful.

The place that replaced your factory radio must have the code or it wouldn't have worked, so go back to them and get it. If they don't have it then they need to find it or give you another factory radio with the code.

I got mine the same way. All it took was a phone call.

I thought you had to have the VIN of the original car AND the serial number from the factory radio to get the code? At least that's what the audio guy who got my code said...
