was my spoiler installed wrong?...

i was taking a close look at my spoiler today, and noticed that there was a gap between the spoiler and the car, and in that gap there was some foam, looked like the foam was sticky on both sides(like double sided foam tape). when i opened the trunk, there were four screws holding the spoiler down, two screws on each side, and from those screws, one on each side is tight, but the other two screws spin, they keep spinning, but it doesn't get any tighter. my dad's maxima has a spoiler, but its right on the body of the car, no gap, no foam. is this normal? does anyone have a real close picture of the factory spoiler attached to the car?

the foam is supposed to be there. I dunno about the spinning screws... that doesn't seem right.

well, the spinning screws don't bother me, as long as the foam is supposed to be there, i don't care, thanks for the reassurance

i dont remember any foam from when i installed my spoiler, but maybe it was already attached to the spoiler. the spinning screws definitely shouldnt be like that though, its probably not on well if those screws just spin

there might be some slight rockin because of those screws not down tight, i'd take it back and let them replace the spinners with some that will tighten. for the hard earned money you paid, they could at least install it correctly

Sounds like they stripped the threads and that is why they keep spinning. As for the foam, it is there to prevent dirt and such from getting under there and scraping the paint off, causing it to rust under there. Take it back and tell them either give you a new spoiler or rethread the bolts.
