My Civic Model? Big Mystery
My Civic Model? Big Mystery
I have a Canadian "Special Edition" civic which bears no tags such as "dx,lx,ex" etc, now some guy at honda thinks its a DX but he hasnt really looked at it, but on my insurance it says its an LX.
The big question is which is it...
The big question is which is it...
look at the engine,, if its a vtec then its a EX,
If it has no power locks then its a DX
If it has power locks and not a vtec then its a LX
thats probably the easiest way to know the different models. someone correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure thats how it goes

It sounds like my wifes VP. No badges, no power features, no cruise, no sunroof. But has ac and cd player. Stupidspoons has a good idea. Atleast it made since to me. The DX and LX, I think, are pretty much the same for parts and bolt ons. Correct me if I am wrong.
my god... finally.
I have the runt of the civic litter.
On a totally different note, what kind of trade in value( your guess) will i get if I revert it back to stock and it has 10,000 km on it ( 6,000 miles)

kelley blue book has an 05 Civic VP Coupe listed on their website. in "excellent" condition, it gives $11,775 in USD. you can look for yourself at kbb.com. I'd say you might get close to this if all works out. Good luck!
alright well im probably not going to trade it in seing as im only 16 and my parents are helping me pay for this car, but i want a manual so bad...
Has anyone done an auto-->manual swap on a 7thgen?

I bought the same car except with manual
and also had problems trying to figure out what mine was. When I tried to clear the vin number through my insurance the only model it would accept is DX so thats what I guess technically it is.
I was just gonna go for a DX when i was researching mine but I they told me about the "special edition" which has A/C, keyless entry, center console, and power door locks for just over a grand so I figured why not.

only the usa has the special edition, in canada its the "sport coupe." Now I know for sure they had an LX sport sedan which came with different rims and a lip kit, but didn't think the coupe did. So maybe yours is a dx sport coupe?
I have the answer for you. When I bought my car (2005 coupe) from the dealer, it had nothing but the Special Edition badge on the back. I had no idea what it was so I ran a Carfax on it and it came back as a DX which makes sense.
power locks
keyless entry
manual windows
CD player
air conditioning
no sunroof
hubcaps
If yours matches mine, then it's a DX Special Edition, I don't think there were really that many of them made.

A VP Special Edition? These even existed? I'm confused now...
I thought Special Editions only came on LX and EX/Si models???
I want my mind to be clear on this... why does Canada get the cool DXs?
Oh, oh. If it doesn't have a DX/LX/ES/Si badge on the trunk... it's a DX VP! Yay! I won!
Or did I?

There's too many threads on this already.....Canada does not have the VP and we do have a DX Special Edition which is what this is.
