Intermitent Starting Problem

I have a 2002 Civic Si-G (Canada). I got it about a month ago and already there are starting problems!! Once in a while when I attempt to start the dang thing it will click but not start, then I remove the key, wait for a few seconds and it'll start again. At first I thought it was a problem with that anti-theft chip they put in the key or maybe the starter was grounding out. But I took it to the dealer and they cannot recreate the problem and said "Bring it back when it happens again." Does all dealers have a list of unless comments to give to customers when they don't want to fix things? If you had this problem before can you plz tell me how you dealt with it? Thanx.

a lot of people are experiencing that, no one is really sure why. hondas are known to have a little bit of a hard time starting with less than 1/4 tank of gas, but for me its happened even with an almost full tank of gas. i had the idea that it could have something to do with the clutch/starter interlock, but havent gotten to test my theory yet (and im not sure if ill really be able to tell if it was just me not having the clutch far enough down or if it was something else)

The clicking sound could be a loose power or ground wire on the battery or starter. Check those to see if they are loose. When you have a bad connection like that all it does is click.

I know what you mean. I had the same problem and my check engine light kept on coming on. Honda replaced the "fuel module" for me which was causing the "check engine" light to come on. Anyways, the car starts up everytime now so maybe have a look at that. Hope is goes in the irhgt direction for you. I'm from Canada too. The fan is way too weak on these cars.

a dealer gave me this advise on starting errors like this. "the gas tank is pressuized. if you are trying to start the car on low gas, ei (1/8 of a tank or less) it cam take 1-5 seconds for the tank to pressurize. then the car will start right up . this is normal and is not a serious problem . it is more common in cold weather. if the problem isn't solved in this time frame then consult your dealer"

hope this gives peace of mind

I have had some trouble starting my 2001 LX, but only when it was new. Now I have a few thousand miles on it I have had no problems with it, even in cold weather (I live in Minnesota where it gets -10 F pretty regularly) How new is your car? I just thought maybe I was breaking it in to rough so I stayed under 4000 RPM as much as I could and limited my speed.
