Rep Power: 0 Gas milage blows donkey.
As stated above, my gas milage blows extreme goat. I just filled up, only went like 55 miles and the needle is almost at half. That's like the same as my friend's Navigator.

Rep Power: 0 Like many of the 2k1 civics out there, it sounds like you have a defective gas gauge. I noticed some terrible gas milage myself, but in reality my car still got well over 300 miles per tank. The needle just sat 3/4 of the way on the gauge. If you look at the recalls on for the honda civic on www.kbb.com it turns out that the gas gauges are inaccurate do to new fuel additives. Just reset your trip odometer each time you fill your tank and make sure you refill about every 300 miles. The car should be perfectly fine other than the gas gauge. Oh the cd players have a problem as well. They go to code when its really damp out. Your honda dealer can replace both for you.

Rep Power: 0 the best way to calculate gas mileage is to take the miles driven on the tank divided by the gallons it took to fill it back up. obviously you have to remember to reset your trip odometer when you fill up for this to work

Rep Power: 0 I have the 2k2 Hx and the window sticker says anywhere from 40-56 miles per gallon. I have 1500 miles in driving so just a slight break-in, but so far I am getting about 40 miles per gallon. I am driving about 90% highway too, and the last 500 miles I have been using the cruise control at 2500 rpm. I did a nice break- in, constant up and down rpm from 2k-3k, for the first 1000 miles with no excessive idle or flat rpm. I also did a oil change at the 1k mile using Castrol GTX 5-20. I am a student Tech. in Honda training going to be a dealer Tech so I kinda know what's up! Anyway my milage should be cool when it's about 6k miles of Break-in!

Did I read that right? Did you say that you have a 2k2 HX and the window sticker says that you get anywhere from 40-56 miles per gallon? The sticker should be saying 36-44 mpg for a HX 5-speed, or if you have a HX CVT then the mileage should be 35-40 mpg. Check the Honda website to verify: http://www.hondacars.com/models/civi.../features.html.
By the way, I have an HX as well (mine's got a CVT). If you're getting 40 mpg then that's pretty good. I've never gotten more than 38 mpg.

Rep Power: 0 Those MPG estimates you see on the car stickers are notoriously hiked up. Read any AUTOMOTIVE magazine and they'll tell you what a lie they are. Even the Insight doesn't get the 61mpg it claims. It's more like 49mpg. TOYOTA is famous for just flat out lying about mileage. The Celica is supposed to get around 42mpg. I know a few Celica owners who tell me taht they're lucky to get 30 mpg. "Don't believe the hype."
My fiance's V6 Mercury Cougar gets better mileage than my EX COUPE and both are AUTO. She may have a bigger gas tank I think but still, in the end it's all BS.
Depends what gas you're using as well. they're some dirty *** crap out there too.

There you go some helpful tips on getting sticker rated gas mileage. waaaaaahahahaha
- You weigh substantially less than the national low, being anerexic helps!!
- You drive ONLY on completely flat surfaces for long periods of time between stops
- You accelerate even software than a granny
- The wind direction corresponds with your desired direction

Rep Power: 0 fury, use 87 octane, thats what the car is designed for and it will get better gas mileage with it
i just got 37.75 mpg on my last tank in my 5-speed EX coupe, and that was a combonation of city and highway. i do usually go easy on the gas pedal, but there are some hills around here. my real secret to good gas mileage is to take the car out of gear when going down a hill steep enough to keep the same speed while rolling in neutral, where otherwise it would lose speed if it was in gear and would require gas to keep the same speed. if the hill is steep enough to gain speed on, then ill put it in gear to keep it from going too fast down the hill. i used to get 33-36mpg out of my 5-speed 88 dodge omni (rated 25 city/32 highway) by doing this. i only got that in the summer, my omni didnt like the sh*t they put in the gas for winter, i would only get 30-32 in the winter. im hoping to get 38-40 in the summer with my civic

Rep Power: 0 I'm still wondering about this gauge....
~160 miles on the tank, i should be filling up at what, 300? but the damn gauge is like at 1/4
should i try to get to 300 and see what happens or just fill up and deal with it
i don't want to run out of gas on the highway or something :/

Rep Power: 0 here's my strange story - about a month ago, my gas mileage use to be ~27-29 mpg on the interstate. Then my fuel gauge went bazerk... after filling it up, it read 1/2 full. So i took it to the dlrshp and bitched. After it was all over, the Service Manager told me they replaced a "fuel delivery unit", but the service receipt says replaced "fuel gauge" (kinda fishy, i really don't trust dlrshps anymore). Since then, the fuel gauge hasn't acted funny, but now, my mileage is atleast 34mpg or more on the interstate! I don't understand how fixing the fuel gauge somehow improved my mileage. btw, i measure the mileage based off the fill amount, not by eyeing the fuel gauge.

Rep Power: 0 Hi, a new guy here... Deuce EX Coupe Auto.
I just got back from San Francisco (and boy are my arms tired)... I live in the L.A. area, and I managed to make it all the way back on one tank... about 380 miles... I did fill up just before heading over the Grapevine... just to be safe. No one wants to be dead on the highway at 2am on that hill.
I've put about 3800 miles in a month of ownership (FYI - silver, still stock) and average about 32mpg combined... but I drive a lot of city streets.
Later.
