Block Heater
Block Heater
I bought my 2001 EX or Canadian SI about 5 months ago and went to look for the block heater cable today and had no luck finding it. Does anyone know were abouts the cable plugs into the block? Thanks
You need to buy and bolt one in. Very straight forward. Shouldn't cost you more than $60 if you install it yourself. Don't need it? Well, that depends how cold it gets where you are. If it gets below 25C, I'd seriously consider getting one.

The heating element screws into a bolt hole above the oil filter. Not much room in there. I think you need like a 27mm socket yo remove it. Find some installation instructions on the net to see what it entails.
I used the one on my pickup once in the 4 years Ive owned it, it was over a night of a -60F windchill. Truck started right up. Last year when we had -50 and I didnt use it, truck was VERY hard to start. Definitely worth it if you have easy access to plug it in, and its only like $60-$70
Just a finer point. Wind chill has no effect on something like a car. It is a measure of the physiological effects of wind on a human. The car will only achieve the minimum temperature, not the wind chill value.
I guess it saves your battery/ engine from wear and tear. I think I might get one this weekend because remote starting my car and letting it run for 5mins b4 i get in really uses a lot of gas
