Terrible ride in NYC

Hi Friends,

I have a 2001LX and live in NYC. Of course, the city has one of the worst roads. I can expect bumpy ride, but I tell you that my LX is feeling real terrible right now. I seem to feel any bump on the road. When a hit a real bad bump, i feel it in my bones! I noticed that some have had trouble with bushings, but mine aren't squeeking. Are there any recommendations? I bounce the car and it's pretty sturdy. There are no noises or squeeks. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help! My car has 80k miles on it. I'm using stock steel wheels with Bridgestone Turanza tires ( i just replaced them) (14"). I believe the entire suspension is original. Oh, it's not dropped either. I'm seeing in the posts that the stock struts are terrible, right?

you would be right. after 80k miles your stock struts are probably blown that would explain why the ride is bad.

I have the same problem over here in GA from what I've been reading new shocks/struts should fix it. Ive also heard that progressive(correct me if wrong) springs (the one with different diameters and coil size) contract accordingly to the road condition, may help with that too.

Any aftermarket springs progressive or not will be stiffer then stock so you will feel more of the road.
