Burnt smell

Hey guys, Im new to manual n I got my Civic a couple of days ago. N everytime I drive the car, I smell this burnt smell and I think its coming from the clutch. Could it be the clutch? N also I can hear the clutch make squeeky noise n was also wondering if that was normal.

Thx in ahead of time.

If it's a brand new civic, it'll smell like that for a couple of weeks until all the manufacturing coatings burn off the exhaust parts. The clutch squeak issue is known. Take it to honda and have them fix it.

keep your foot OFF the clutch when you are not switching gears. If you ride the clutch you will wear it out in like 20k miles.

Its used, n my foot is also off the clutch. Could it be the new rustproofing that they put on?

Last night my dad's friend tested my car n he tested to c if the clutch was slipping by putting on the handbrakes, put in gear one n dropped the clutch. The car jerked forward a bit n then turned off. Then he said that the clutch has a lil bit of slip (I wouldn't know since I have experience of manuals for only 3 days) cuz if the clutch didnt slip, the car should jus turn off without moving. But Ill take it to a independent mechanic to check it out. Other then that, everything else is fine.

what?

If you just got the car rust coated, yeah that's probably what your smelling. When Honda did my aunt car, they rust coated the engine too, that stuff was horible when it was burning off. Why you want to rust coat an aluminum engine I still haven't figured out.

It was rustproofing of the entire undercarrage, engine bay n other parts (Canada has harsh winters).
