Transmission Trouble!
I have a standard transmission and recently after a trip to the dragstrip my car won't go into reverse or lock in fifth gear. I've had a couple of mechanics tell me it's my syncs and a transmission shop said it will cost 2 grand to replace the syncronizers. But they also said to get some standard transmission additive and it should relube the syncs to activate agian hopefully. All I need to know is how much transmission fluid the transmission takes so i can put about 25% of however much fluid is in there. Give me some feedback please.

also, the 5 spd. holds 3.2 pints according to my chilton manual.

wow dude that sux. yeah, or a used manual i've seen ~500. i wanan swap out my auto for a manual. but i'm also thinking of just getting a 6th gen si and decking that out. um yeah get that auto fixed man, unless yur out of warranty. my auto was dying on me and got fixed under warranty, thank god cuz i just hit 36,000 miles last week.
yur solenoids are most likely teh cause, they are fvcked up. yeah when u floor it it doesnt 'feel' like its doin it, but it is. i bet yur redlining in yur auto rnt u, i mean like...7,100 rpm then i'tll switch. a healthy auto should be shiftin ~6,500 WOT. but yeah i'd get that fixed before yur car doesnt move. lol

I can't wait to dyno my ride and find out how much torque my lil D17's putting out
EDIT: if you drive an auto i'll just >>>

I said this a million times, but no one listens....
But here it goes one more time. Put a tube of Moly grease in the gearbox. NO, it won't hurt anything. YES, the Moly helps protect the synchros and gears, and bearings.
Yes, My own sh*t tranny shifts like greased snot now. I have used Moly in all my hondas and my Nissan tuck. Shifts great after over 150,000 miles. I recomend using Moly ESPECIALLY if you drive hard. It won't prevent you from breaking the gearbox, but it will help keep it alive a lot longer.
NO... honda engineers did NOT know what they were doing when they designed the 7th gen transmission.
If you have to replace the tranny, put a tube of Moly in the new one. It takes a couple hundred miles for it to really plate into the metal, but you'll see.... it will run smoother.
Aww, well... good luck.

I had the gears in my transmission replaced because of a recall. I had similar problems. Have a dealership check it out.
