yeah, what vtec does is it opens up the valves in the engine slightly so you gain a little bit more power. Next time you go out start off in first gear and floor it...you'll notice the tachometer slowly gaining rpm's then once it gets to a certain point (I think its like 5000rpms or something), it should start moving much faster up the chart and you should feel a little more pull in the engine. Thats the vtec kicking in and it does make the engine sound a little louder (that and the fact that your revving your engine up high will also cause it to get louder...lol)

Maybe if you took out the water you have for engine oil and put in some thicker oil like the oil cap says it may quiet it down some! I have put 10w30 mobil1 in my car since the forst oil change and my engine is just as quiet as the day I bought it except for the ac compressor, I now have 42k on it. I live in Florida so a thicker oil is just fine for my climate, now if you live in Maine or Alaska then I can understand the 0w-20

Thought that all honda's had that whining sound? I have a A1 and between 2.5k and 3.5k it whines a bit. Definatly not vtec because its an A1.

Or is there something wrong with my alternator im not knowing about...

It's normal. Our engines are loud, but you won't hear vtec unless you got some engine work done. It's just air flow you would hear on the newer vtec. But I'm using stock 5w20 oil and have a few mods. It's not that loud unles you put an intake on or something.
