fixed vtec myself
well there was a thread that i posted up about 2 months ago about my vtec not working and the dealership not wanting to fix it, well i decided to fix my self so what i did was take the valve cover off and i took a look at it and there was bolt loose layin in front of vtec oil jernal(excuse my spelling) not lettng any oil go to the locking pins for vtec so i put the screw where it belonged and reassembled it and took it for test drive and the vtec was working check engine light stayed off let me go past 4k rpm all that time vtec wasn't working just cause of that bolt.
i glad it did not touch the cam or valves
i glad it did not touch the cam or valves when replacing my valve cover gasket on a suzuki swift if found one bolt laying beside a valve spring, and 2 other very loose bolts....I would suggest cleaning the bolt with alcohol as well as the nut or bolt hole. Then use the red locktite like tinman suggested.High temp, high vibration loose bolts = major problems ..ps hope you checked for more loose bolts...
