About 2 months ago I noticed that when it rained my driver side floor mat got really soaked. I think that it was just water running off of my feet, so I went out and bought those rubber floor mats. Well that other day when it raining hard, I noticed that my floor carpet was soaked again, this time under the mat!

So i guess my question is do any of you have problems with the car leaking? Where should I even start to see where it is coming from? And finally is it difficult to replace the carpet in the car, because my is pretty moldy (I think).

Any help appriciated

my gf has the same problem with her 2k3 civic. I'm thinkin its a honda problem but since the car has mods and ****, they blame it on that and dont wanna fix it. My advice is to go to honda cuz i think its a common problem.

I remember there being an issue with the gas cap section.
There was gap somewhere.
It was letting water in the car.

Also I recently read where a person was getting water in the door frame and jacked his speakers up.

As for the carpet it shouldn't be that hard. the only pain is taking the seats out front and back.
and if you are gong to do all that, Dynomat the floor boards too!
Just my opinion.

I had the same p[roblem.......there was apparently a seal that was broken in the driver side windsheild drain. The water run off from windshiels just came into the car instead. Fixed under warrenty

Thanks george19!! unfortantly my car is not under warrenty anymore, but I hate the Honda place by my house (long story) so I don't go there unless I know that it is something easy for them to fix or something they see all the time. I guess I will take it to them and tell them to check the seals in the windshield drains.

Thanks again

Fixed
The wet carpet on driver's side was really annoying me. If you have a sunroof here is the fix.

Remove the plastic panel behind the hood release. Next, remove the two bolts from the hood release switch. Then, remove the one screw from the vertical metal bar. Behind the metal bar are wires. Behind the wires is the drain tube from the sunroof.

The drain tube is split into two pieces. Due to honda's poor design, the tubes became separated. When it rains, the water from the sunroof would drain down this tube and onto the driver's side carpet.

To fix the issue I purchase a 3/4 inch radiator clamp ($.50) and clamped the two hoses together.

I left the car out in the rain, and it has never leaked again. My carpet has been dry ever since I clamped the two hoses together.

Sorry for the large photos. I was being lazy and did not have time to crop them. Plus, I was in a rush since I was running out of daylight. I just wanted to post something since I could not find a fix, and I knew a lot of people were having the same problem.

I noticed my driver side carpet wet after it had rained, two days afte buying the car, but I don't have a sun-roof. Can the leak come from the same place?

The dealer replaced or fixed the plug where the hood cable passes through. No more leaks.

after bringing the car for a second time to Honda, Honda called me today that the water leak I have is more serious than they thought. My dealer has been talking to Honda Canada because water is coming is through the welds of the body, from the engine compartment and from underneath the car. The dealer told me that Someone from Honda Canada might have to come down to look at the car...not good news...is there any action I can take? Can I somehow force them to give me a new car ...lol

Yeah, sounds like they forgot to seal the body when they built it. I'd push for a new one.
It will likely rust out between the welds.

Try and play it up as a safety issue. Whatever you do, don't be one of those raving lunatics that go in there and scream someone's face off. There's no faster way to make someone stop listening to you.

is it with the dealer that I complain with, or is it with Honda Canada?

I thought those people always got what they wanted. They shut you up by giving you what you want. Otherwise they think your going to go away quietly. I'd be pissed as heck and made sure they knew it.

got the car back today, they told me that water was coming in through one of the floor plugs...Honda Canada issued a Service Bulletin today, in case of other future cases...

i think i have the same problem on my 2002 lx sedan. in my passenger floor, i had a big circle of black-green mold that had grown under the floor mat and it was damp, i noticed it when i removed my mats to vacume, but had been smellign something like wet dog, i figured i must have spilt a drink or something but it might be this. i bought some cleaner at wal-mart that said mold and mildew killer and sprayed it on the carpet, after 5 minutes or so the carpet turned a very light beige and looks like crap, does anyone know where i can get new carpet or if honda will replace because of the leak?
