how often..

How often do we need to change rear brakes or drums ? I think its the e brake. My car has 40,000m civic lx sedan..

There is no interval on brakes. It depends how hard you are on them. I would think 40000 is way too soon for the rears unless you ride them constantly.
What exactly is wrong? Is the ebrake really loose? You might just need to tighten the cable.
