Help me please!!!!!!
OK freaking out! I have a 2003 honda sadan lx automatic, not even a year old yet. I was leaving work tonight it was pouring outside so obviously drive slow, not to hydroplane. Well going 15 miles per hour, I see this huge slope of water hitting the street in the right lane, I slow down get i get into the left lane with not nearly as much water.( 6in maybe) I go over the water and it stalls, car wont start. I figure water hit the plugs gotta sit for 15 min, start the car up, sounds like it gonna start so I keep on it, makes a whiney sound then a low deep hum and quits! oil lights turns on, battery , and every now and then engine. I then get help and they push it into the parking lot leaking oil everywhere. find that a huge chunk of metal on the street the size of my palm, oil on it with a green rod connected to it. The oil is drained and there is metal pieces everywhere.
The only real performance mod I have on it is a injen cold air intake. But I wouldn't think that water could get sucked up so bad that it would blow a chunk of metal off the block. I dunno if it's the engine or I'm thinking its the oil pan. I have to get it towed to the dealership tomorrow, still have warrenty on it. But will they warrenty it? I didn't hit anything I dont believe, I went back and saw so large rocks and I didn't hit the median. Please help me. What do I do??

I hope things work out in your favor.
The only similar story I know of is a friend of a friend that had a CAI on his new Tiburon. The first week he had it it rained and he blew his engine up. He yelled at Hyundai for not covering it under warranty and they just laughed at him. All because he didn't spend the extra $30 for the auxilliary breather valve.

That intake was a bad idea. Sorry, but most likely you'll need a new engine. The only chance you might have is pay a shop to vacuum out the water, then put the stock intake back on and hope the dealer somehow covers it. If they see water in the engine tho, they won't help you at all. If nothing works, get a new engine for $600 and have someone install it. That's all.
Yeah well we towed the car to the dealership this morning and first thing they said when they opened the hood was that it was the intake, water got into the engine and blew a chunk of metal off the block. They are quoting me 10 grand! I asked them to have a tech check it out and see if there is water in there because if they find that there isn't water in there they have to warrenty. I agree the intake was awful and is costing me alot. Insurance company is going out too to see the damage and see if they will cover it. And we have a family friend that will check it out and help out alont when it comes to the price. It hurt so bad to see my car just sitting there broken. So I'm looking online for an engine---any sellers let me know----. Thanks guys for everything.
This cost me 1500 points

Sorry to hear that, It happen to me and my boy in a 94 accord with a CAI but luckely we let it sit for a good 4 days and it eventually started. Maybe its time to drop a K20 in the car =)..good luck!!
Cold air intake---BAD BAD BAD
From personal knowledge, Honda will not warranty the motor. Its destruction was directly caused by an aftermarket part you installed.
Water went up the intake and hydrolocked the engine. They don't have to prove that the intake destroyed your engine, you have to prove that it did not. Which you cannot.
Me, I would have put the stock intake on and lied my *** off. May have worked, may have not. But now that they have seen the intake and examined the motor, it is way too late.
Best bet, look on Ebay, buy a used engine. Have it installed. We did one in less than a day. Very expensive intake at this point. Sorry you had to learn the down side in such a painful manner.

Yeah a very painful lesson learned, I cried when I saw my poor car. So we shall see when it comes to the engine. I've been looking online all day for prices. Thank you for everything you guys and hopefully everything works out the way I hope it will

Hey.. question... my dealership had installed all my performance parts on the car brand new before i bought it, they had it as a dealership show car, and then i purchased and the deal was everything was warrenteed and if anything ever went wrong they signed a contract to cover it, so I wanna get rid of my car soooo bad right now, but i just want insurance to claim it as totaled and give me the money for the car, and as you all know their are two Hurricane's right now about to hit the west coast of florida at the same time, well i live in tampa, If i purposely hydrolocked it, would insurance cover it as totaled? and just gimme the money? or would i have to leave the car near the beach and hope a flood comes and **** it all up to hell that way??? lol

like gearbox said you should have tooken it to a shop to have the water sucked out first so the dealer wouldnt know. Thats what I did when I drove through high water and my engine quit. I also had the injen CAI. It was only a few hundred dollars to have the shop get the car running again. Also you should have took the intake off if apparently there was that much damage. But since you already took it to the dealer, aint much you can do. I highly doubt your insurance company will pay for it. They might though and then just jack up your insurance.
well I would have even taken the car to the shop but a chunk of the block already fell off. I pray to god insurance can help, there would have been no way for me to avoid the water and I just hope that they see it as weather related. But like u said they might but I'm not giving my hopes up

When we pushed the car to the parking lot we found a piece of the what I thought was the oil pan but ended up being a piece of the engine block on the ground. It was the size of my hand with the rod still connected to it.

they are just trying to scam you because you are a girl. They think that most girls dont know much and will buy anything. Also most likely you wont even need anew engine. I never did. It justs needs to be cleaned out first and then see if it will run. they just want to make a nice 10k off you. Besides A new engine doesnt even cost that much. Unless that is hondas price. But a cheesy d17 shouldnt cost 10k.

YAY!!!!!!!!! insurance and burt kuni honda called in and said that theya re taking full responsibility! They said ( kuni honda) found that there was puddles of water on my engine, so it may have not been the intake. They also said reguardless if I had the factory intake on the car water still would have gotten into it. So insurance will pay for another engine, and kuni honda will get all the new parts so basically I get a new engine, everything. So it will be fixed at the earliest next friday. So relieved!!! I lucked out.Thank you guys for all the advice and help.
