Lol, mine's like that. In the city, it gets 22mpg. When I drive all highway, it's more like 36. I think it's all the stop/go driving that does it. Idle wastes alot of gas.

are you sure there isnt a hole in your tank? My needle is whack sometimes, but it's never that off.......... IF you drove 42 miles in about 1/2 tank.... that would be... maybe 8 miles per gallon? What kind of driving.... or maybe idling were you doing? It cant be that bad unless youre idling for hours and hours.

Why is your mpg so bad man?? That sucks!
have you tried another gas station? A very small chance that the station is rigged. It maybe coincidently that you have a defective part and in addition they rigged the pump to read higher but you are not actually pumping that much.

When my fuel sender broke, the fuel gauge would be below E when there was 5 gallons left in the tank.
If the poor gas mileage is actually true, you need to check plugs, oil, tire pressure, and air filter. Those are the most important.

AC does use up gas. ok, so see how it goes with this current tank of gas. If it gets to the 1/4 mark but you only fill up a few gallons, then I think you know what to do next.

And I thought I had it bad with my previous 18mpg. After changing my spark plugs and more tire pressure I'm averaging 25-26mpg. Every notch on the fuel guage is about 20miles for me. After half way, though, the guage will just drop down to empty. lol...crazy honda fuel guage.
