Driver-side auto-Lock won't go down or up

The switch that locks and unlocks my doors won't work on the driver-side. It use to move a little, now it won't move at all. The wierd part is the passenger side works perfectly so if anyone can give input I would be much obliged.

Either that or rip the door apart and have a look at the locking mechanism... It will probably need to be replaced. Taking it to honda for the repair won't be much more expensive than buying the part and doing it yourself, and probably won't be nearly as much hastle.

^^ Next D.I.Y. - Turn your Caps Off

so if you lock or unlock with your driver sides switch, it doesnt lock or unlock any of the doors?(even the passenger side door?) if it locks the passengers door, there's a problem with door lock switch, but if not, it's probly the switch that's gone bad

Well my drivers side lock wont go up or down with the remote, only the passanger side. I have to manually lock the doors, what do you all think it is. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. I am thinking it is the actuator, but am not sure. I dont really want to take it to honda cause they will charge a lot for labor, but I am going to take my door apart tomorrow, just wondering what anyone thinks it might be, and maybe I will buy that part.

I just found out that mine does not work either. Is it a common problem or is just a couple of cases? And how would you fix it?

It has happened to about halft the people on this site. Basically you have to figure out what the problem is. Test the actuator or simply look and see if anything is disconnected.

I have the exact same problem. when I lock my car I have to manually lock it with the key every time. The passenger door still works but the driver's side won't respond to anything. How much is the dealer gonna charge to fix that? I would expect everyone's problem to be generally the same (motor fried)...can the wire really be disconnected? I've owned my car for 3 years and 45,000 miles, I guess this is the life of the motor. Can other people with this problem post how long they've owned their cars for, etc.?

it's supposed to do that, like the other guy said, so you don't lock your keys in the car. You can lock it with the door closed but not open, if the door is open and the key is out of the ignition, pull the door handle on the inside and push the button down, it will lock.
