I have no idea what it is but the same thing happens to my 04. It usually happens right when i turn the car on and turn out of the drive way. It also happens sometimes when iam parking, (the noise happens for me when the steering wheel is at center and as soon as i turn it left or right bam the knocking on the wood.)

Guys, I was doing some research and I think I found the solution to those annoying spring noise. Check out this link. http://www.2k1civic.com/forums/showt...pring+neuspeed . Supposely, if you get coil wrap for your spring, it should fix the problem

Could be the above or that your struts werent indexed(lined up) correctly when reassembled. Read this post regarding indexing if you think this might be the problem..

BINGO!! RiCeMaN is dead on. Same thing happened to me. If you have aftermarket springs (especially Neuspeeds) that is the problem. Wrap your dead coils, so they're not grinding when you turn.
flotsamm, thanks for the link, but when I had my springs installed, I took it to RacingZone in Tampa, shop (well known for quality work) and the mechanic confirmed with me that the springs are installed properly. I honestly think that it's the neuspeed springs that is causing that "clanking" noise. I am going to get the coil wrap and have it installed. I'll let u guys know if that will get rid of that annoying noise.

I called up Neuspeed tech support and described to them the noise. They told me that the only thing that could cause that noise is that the mechanic forgot to put back the strut bearing after he installed the springs.
Let me know what you guys think about that. Thanks

Let me know what you guys think about that. ThanksI would call up your shop and ask the mechanic who worked on your car if he indexed your struts correctly. Ask him how he did it. The correct way is to line up the two triangles on the top mount and upper perch with the hole on the lower perch like I mention above. Dont get me wrong, they could be indexed correctly and it could be something else still, but I'd give them a call anyway.
Guys, wish me luck, this Monday I am taking my car back to the mechanic to install those coil wrap for my springs. I hope this solves the problem. The noise is getting worst and this time it's making that noise without me turning my car. Driving over a little speed bump and the noise is there. Sounds like the noise is coming from the front right wheel. Who knows,
I am just felt up with the "popping" noise. I am starting to regret lowering my car. It looks nice as hell, but is it worth the annoying sound....
If you guys have any other pointers, I am more than happy to share it with the mechanic.
Pretty much he (the mechanic) told me that this is the first time that he did a spring installation and the car is making this "popping" noise. This mechanic shop is not a ghetto out shop; it is actually a very nice shop and very well known for doing good work.
I'll let u guys know by Monday evening if the coil wrap works?!?!?!

Here's the low down no my trip to the mechanic. The mechanic told me that he indexed my struts correctly the first time. This is a known fact and he is very aware of that. I had him installed the coil wrap on the spring (per Hyper drv) and the noise has gotten a better, but I still hear it. Now I am pretty much back to square one. Any other suggestions?

So wait.. after he installed the coil wrap didnt he hear the knocking noise? He should of, and then put it back up on the rack to at least try to figure out WTF is up. I'd call him up and say that its still making the noise and you would like to know where its coming from. Also mention that it never made this noise before the install.
The weird thing is after he installed the coil wrap, the noise was not there. I drive around the shop and it was quite. A day after, as I was pulling out of my drive way, I noticed the noise again. The more I drive my car, the worst the noise gets. I am soooo lost with this.... This is the third time that he has worked on my springs. We both dont know what else to do. He said that he could reinstall the old stock springs on. arghhhhh!!
I had the same problem when i first put in my springs and it turned out that the nut on top of the strut was overtightened.....opps got a little impact happy....o well i believe that the proper torque is only like 17ft/lbs it got rid of my noise
well i had the same problem but i learned it was my own fault i put the spring in backwards and not quite exactly where it should be for those of you with after market springs take your wheel off put the car upp on a jack and have someone turn the wheel and take a look

I have the same problem on my car it is lowered on sportlines. I have noticed that when i jack up my car or change to stock tires the noise goes away for like half a day, then it come back. That might explain why you didnt hear the noise right away.
