Water Noise / Liquid Sound on Acceleration
Hi everybody, i have a 2003 Civic LX (Canadian), and my concern is that when i press acceleration there's some weird sound coming from under the hood, it sounds like liquid doing something. even if i just press acceleration while AT is in Parking it does the same thing, not always, and not nesecerally if i press it hard. i went to the dealer they listen to it, and said it was probably an airlock in my cooling system, said it was fixed but im still getting this sound, not as often though. my car's got just 12000km on it (8000 miles). Do you have any ideas what it might be and if it's serious?
2nd question is about my OEM firestone tires, today i was checking the pressure and they were underinflated, so i decided to inflate them while i was doing that i was talking to another guy and didnt notice how i overinflated the tire to about 48psi or so, i guess maximum pressure it can hold. ofourse i made it 32psi, but could that have done any damage to the tire? i know its aint the best tire, but i cant afford anything else right now.
Thank You Very Much.

where's the sound comming from exactly, from the engine bay?
the tire shouldn't have a problem, esepcially if you didn't drive with it. 32psi isn't alwasy the best pressure, in your tire, more weight requires more air, my tires are rated 1201lbs at 51psi, so depend on the load of the car, you might want to change the pressure of the tires

if you load 4 people in the car and still run 32psi, you are looking for a blow out, the tire already became underflated

I get the same sound, and am worried too. It happens to me when I have the heat on and tap the gas in neutral or after I let off the throttle to shift from 1st to 2nd.... but no other gear.... weird
When i start my car, and rev the engine a little bit i get the noise of flowing water down a drain heh. Its right behind the passenger side of the dash. Im pretty sure its for the heater core. My question is, is it supposed to be THAT noticable? ive never heard it until about 2 or so weeks ago. And i know my engine a long time to get to operating temp. but thats most likely because of the nasty weather here in NJ.

Yeah, mine does the same thing. Its basically air trapped in the heater core thats making a gurgling sound. I think the only way to fix it is to bleed the cooling system of trapped air. Some cars have an air bleeder for this, but I dont know if our cars do.
ha..i think i ve heard it from my car too..
i remember that one day i heard some weird noise coming from somewhere around pass. side..
i thought its some noise from outside..i mean..not even from my car but from somewhere else..

If it bothers you turn your temp **** over to the blue (cold) side and it'll go away. There isn't much you can do about it, even if you bleed it it'll come back, it's just insanely noticable in our cars.
I've noticed though, other people that are riding can't hear it unless you point it out to them, it's just cause you drive the car and are aware of any unusual noises, etc coming from it. So, I would just live with it like I am. You don't have to worry about it anyways once you get to the warm part of year when you don't need the heat.

Yeah, been discussed over and over again. It only does it when the temp **** is on the red (hot) side. If you turn it to the blue (cold) side then it wont do it anymore. Typically only between 1000 and 3000 RPMs. . Anyways. not a problem, don't worry.

i dont know about you but i'd be pissed if my car sounds like a flushing toilet everytime i turn on the heater..
Actually, doesn't the sidewall only list the MAX tire pressure, not the recommended, since the recommended varies for each car. IIRC, the sidewall only shows the max (44). I run mine at 35 all around and it seems to be decent.
