Air filter

For people who use K&N air filter, do you find it better than the regular Honda (FirstTech?) air filter? It's about $50 I think. Schucks sells Fram air filter for $15. I wonder if the K&N filter is worth the price .

are you refering to the drop in K&N filter and not an intake? i'd personally go for the K&N drop in, that way you'll get more air flow and you could reuse it.

I guess so. the car isn't modifed, so i'm referring to the air filter/element as people usually mean.

The K&N becomes worth it due to the fact that you should change the filter every 10-15K, they're about $10 each, so if you go 60K miles, the K&N pays for itself. Then all you gotta do is clean it every 50K.

50? I got it for 36 shipped. I felt a difference when I put it in. I also have header and exhaust. I've never used fram filters, so I couldnt tell you about them. If you want to just keep your stock air box, then it is worth it. All you have to do is clean it every 10k miles. Rather than $10 every 10k miles.

I just put in a fram after about 20k on the original honda one. I noiced a pretty decent gain after 5k rpms. If you plan on getting an intake, i'd suggest getting a fram to hold you over. 50 bucks for a filter seems pretty steep

Yeah it was damn near black on one side. I'd been complaining to my G/F that i wasn't gettin any acceleration above 5k and that my gas mileage was pretty $hitty. The new filter fixed the acceleration problem, but as i'm on my first tank of gas since changing, we'll see how it affects the mileage
