my civic ?
yeh, i've noticed that my car doesnt respond to my driving anymore. i.e. when i press the gas it doesnt pick up like it should be. before when i press the gas pedal up 3500-4000 rpms, it picks up speed right away and i mean i can feel it accelerate when it reaches that rpm. but now it doesnt, i even got into the point that my foot was stepping on the gas pedal all the way where i cant push farther and there's no response (accelaration wise) from the car, i have to keep my foot pressed all the way for quite some time and it will pick up after 15 seconds or so.
I traced back and i can only think of one incident that i did that has a connection with the car's engine. one night i went to a stop sign and i accidentally put the gear from "D" to "2" without knowing. then from the stop i pushed on to the gas and i was pressing the gas and revving it to around 5000-6000 rpm's knowing that its on "D". I was like, why it aint moving? then i looked at my dash and i saw that the gear was changed to "2".
See i know this forum, when one say something, chances are the next person to reply would just agree on what the other said. Don't just agree on what others say prior to ur reply, tell me what you really think.
so can somebody diagnose my car and what da hell is wrong wid it?

so what car is it? yr/make/model/ how many miles, When was it last serviced?
need details man.
could be a combination of things. 1st thing comes to mind is something fuel related. Check your fuel filter, fuel pump.
make sure your spark plugs are ok.
really need more details.

You don't give many details....
But it sounds like psrk plugs...
How many miles do you have on them? Do you often drive in traffic?
Check also your air filter if you have a stock intake...
(once my car was choking, and I found pieces of toliet paper iside the filter box, don't know how it ended there... Guess it was just sucked in )

i drive a 2k1 EX sedan, i have about 26k miles on it. so for 2 1/2 year old car for that mileage i dont think thats too much at all for a wear and tear problem. the car is fully serviced, i mean literally serviced. i always keep on track on my service maintenance. i follow the maintenance book of the heezy, i even ask the dealer to sign and stamp it everytime i go for my maintenance.
the car picks up speed but it doesnt like it used to be. i have to step on the gas pedal pretty much all the way and for a while inorder for me to speed up and the tachometer to go up.

hmmmmmmm new car huh? I stand by my assumption of a jacked up torque converter. next time you take it in to be serviced tell them about the problem and ention the torque converter. They wont wanna drop the tranny so they'll look really hard to find the problem .lol if they dont find the problem they'll be forced to drop the tranny. This should all be covered under warranty.

i just called HONDA and the guy told me to bring the car in for diagnostics and they are charging me $75 for diagnostics only, service is different. WTF? should i bring in the car and pay $75, i dont even know if they really are gonna check the car. Who knows, I could bring the car and they could just let it sit there and tell me theres nothing wrong with it the next day and me ending up paying them. Dealers are bunch of money gobbling suckers.
so yall think i should bring the car in?

Yeah, your AC will make a very noticable difference in acceleration power, especially with an auto tranny. Honda will cover all repair on the car for 3 years from the date of purchase or 36,000 miles; whichever comes first.
you should be lucky they said $150 when I took my GT-S into the shop.
My uncle is a service manager for honda so I know a lil about their warranty stuff. lol If I'm not sure I just call him.
Nighthawk was correct if they find a problem then its payed for if they dont they will try to charge you. If you complain about it enough they wont charge you even if they dont find anything. Assuming you do go in there every day to have them look at the car. you can always get 1 - 2 freebies if you know what your doing
Good luck.

Same EXACT problem with my car too....It lags in acceleration..not as smooth as it used to be..doesn't pick up like it used to...I only have 25,000 miles on it too....anyone know what could be the problem? is it fuel filter and ATF fluid?

Use Concentrated STP Fuel Injectors cleaners and see if this solves your problem. Check your Transmission Fluid for color--it should be RED. Check your engine oil. Check your spark plugs for corrosion. Check your air filters. Check your tire pressure. Make sure you have no heavy loads in your trunk. You have got to separate all these before you can identify your problem.
What if my transmission fluid is brown/red..?

Then you need to change it. You'll feel a difference. I did mine at 18K. Easy to DIY, and use honda ATF (3 quarts).

and is it ok to use a socket wrench to unscrew the bolt?

I used a socket wrench. It fits right in. You'll feel it get into gear faster and shift smoother than before.
