meguiar's gold PROBLEMS

tell me whats goin on...i wax with meguairs gold. never had a prblem with my old car. so on the civic, i apply the wax, let it dry. as i take another cloth and removed the excess, i see little opaque specks in the reflection and it takes WAAAAAAY too much pressure and hard rubbing to get them out. the the specks streak at first and then after about 20 times of hard (almost scrubbing) rubbing, they kinda come out...but the surface is still streaky and hazy. not clear and mirror like. am i applying too much? or whats goin on??? any help would be apprecaited.

When I had my black Civic I would notice the same thing, it looks almost "streaky" where the wax was after you rub it off. The only thing that removes it is if you wash your car after waxing it then it goes away. I don't know what causes it, maybe the moisture in the air.

You are correct that you need to use Clean towels when remove the wax, but you also need to use a clean applicator. What you are experiencing is a chemical reaction brought on by your wax applicator being dirty. If you used the wax applicator to apply a different product you are going to get haze, streaks and those little annoying specs that cannot be removed unless you rewash the car with soap and water. That is why it is important to use clean towels and applicators each time you glaze or wax a car.

I have to disagree with civicster on something, and most people on the board will to. Do not, I repeat Do not use Circular motions when applying or removing wax, glaze and polish. If you do you will create swirl marks or make existing swirl marks worse than they already are. Always use a back and forth motion or a side to side motion when applying wax and glaze.

You'll screw it up using the circular motion. especially on a black car!
