could you tell me if those leather repair kits you can buy @ various stores like pepboys, and places like that, that are some kind of liquid stuff actually work. i had katzkin leather put in my car, and the sumbiotch got broken into. they glass fell in the seat, and while the dumb@sses were trying to get the headunit out (they only got the faceplate) they managed to slide the glass over the seat and tear it. they got off w/ about 5000 dollars worth of car audio, some of it brand new, cause i help my dealer friend sell it. anyhow, does that crap work or do i need to hunt a leather repair shop?

I don't know if those work or not. I had a cut about an inch long in my 00 accord. What I did was take some super glue and put a thin layer over the leather while holding the two sides together. Then, matched some nail polish to the color and put a light layer on it. I don't know, sounds like your cut may be pretty big.
