A great day of detailing

Well, I finally had a nice sunny day all to myself. I started off by washing my car, using dishwashing soap to get off my previous layers of wax. I then followed it by using Meguires polish and man did my car's paint become smooth. Not only seeing it, but to the touch. I was really impressed. I'm now taking a break but I still hope to add some touch up paint, then a layer of meguires cleaner wax. Let it sit and harden a little and then follow it up with some of that zymol wax. My dad just got the stuff, it's supposed to be like the best or something so I'll tell you how it goes.

hehe coo. a few weeks ago I washed/waxed my car, so did 2 of my friends, and my dad washed their two cars... all in my driveway...

so 5 cars washed, 3 waxed

it was yummy.

Still haven't gotten around to the touch-up paint thing yet... I guess I should do that soon.

well I didn't see anything special about the zymol cleaner wax. I thought maguires or mothers was just as good. One thing about the zymol is that it seemed to leave a haze so I had to really buff it out more than usual. After that the meguires gold wax rocked. That stuff is the best wax I've ever used and I highly recommend the stuff.

so let me get this straight- you washed the car, applied polish, then a coat of cleanerwax? that's what it reads like, that is probably why your results aren't that great. the cleaner wax will get rid of that nice coat of polish you just put on.

for future ref: washcar, cleaner, polish, then wax.

uhh no you don't understand, the polish is applied first to rid your vehicle of any contamanints in your paint or imperfections, which makes your car feel slippery to the touch, the cleaner wax helps seal the paint from elements of nature then the final layer of wax is to make the car look even better and add a final layer of protection. Just do some reading about the stuff and you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's the basic 3 step process by meguire's, I just tried different products that all.

i know what you're talking about, the meguairs 3 step system (deep crystal) is 1)cleaner2)polish3)wax in that order, you don't use polish before cleaner wax unless you're using a polishing compound, but i don't know why you would use that on a new car. Trust me, i know from experience. I guess you could do it the way you're talking about, but the results won't be as good as the 123.
