Driving on the freeway, messing up the car, anyone else?
Just curious does anyone else like me drive around 100 miles a day on the freeway and notice that the back of the car has a nice paint job, but when you look at the front of the car, it has been beat up by rocks, dirt, etc...
I dont care, but it does bother me, but I cant help it, my school is 45 miles away from my house.

yea. i've clayed the car a couple times already and the front bumper will just not get smooth like the rest of the car. there is a lamin-x type thing for the WHOLE bumper (like a bra), but it's different because it's adheisive and apply it on by suds (like tint) and stuff. they use it on ATV's and such, but it isn't worth the money.
you could avoid it by just not going on the highway, or just get your bumper repainted.

my front bumper looks lwhiet now because of all the rocks and sand and other crap on the freeway. i really hate the desert. cant wait to move back to miami, where everything is at an arms reach.
plan on getting it repainted through my insurance before i head back der

I have the same problem w/the front but ima repaint and get the clear 3m bra put on the front on the car. That clear film plastic. I found couple of places that would do it around my area for around $200 for the bumper, hood and mirrors. It's mostly for the love bugs in Florida but should do the trick for the paint chipping.

I had the same problem too, although maybe not as bad as you guys. I took 4 hours the past weekend totally cleaning the outside of my car (wash, clay bar, wash, chamois dry, meguairs scratch-x applied generously over front bumper and hood, meguairs color-x, and meguairs tech wax paste). After all of that I saw a noticeable difference in the scratches and small scrapes in my front bumper. Its far from being perfect, but it definitely looks a lot better than before.
the only problem I have is that on my front bumper the lowest 2" always seems incredibly 'dry', like the clearcoat is worn off or something, I dont really know what to do here...any suggestions?

For all those people who say drive slower and keep your distance, BITE ME!
When things get spit out from a car in front of you they can travel a pretty good distance. I had a rock hit my drivers side of the windshield by a gravel truck two lanes to the right of me and going the speed limit. My car is a magnet for destruction on the highway. Im always getting hit by something.

I drive on I-45 everyday which is heavily traveled by 18 wheelers carrying rocks and other **** and sometimes a rock truck will be 1/2 a mile ahead and be spitting out rocks that hit my car.
I bought my vic 3 weeks ago because my jetta sucked and because i have a commute to work now,. First time ever i have a real commute to work. First day going to work a ford expedition through a rock up and cracked my windshield. My car is being pelted everyday. I just thank god everyday i bought a civic instead of teh rx8 and 350 i was looking at. I know these cars are on 2 different spectrums but i decided for economy over speed for now. No matter what you do you will get your front effed up.

im driving in cali highways... ive found the most random **** on the highway, shovels, huge rocks, lumber, etc. i think its mainly pieces from trucks that dont tie down there "equipment" in the back. i know most people who drive those big trucks with buttloads of gear in the back dont tie them down.
and theres construction (rarely) that leave many many half-inch sized rocks/dirtballs/etc that air blows around on the lanes. i also ran into someones tire just laying on the carpool lane lol
its **** like this makes littering fines so high ($351 minium* fine)

im mighty pissed at mine bumper/hood/fenders......i wanna get them repainted....when i wash the car i feel like sht cause it makes the car look horrible....
My front bumper and front of the hood also have chips all over them. I take very good care of my car, but there isn't anything you can do about the chips. As mentioned, I also get bugs embedded in the front end constantly. When I wash my car I do the jams, under the hood, inside everything.. If you took away the under the hood cleaning, the front bumper takes about as much time to get clean as the rest of the whole car.
One tip I can give you for getting out bugs and tar on the front bumper that will help.. use WD-40 to get them off before you wash your car. It loosens up bugs ok, and removes tar very well. Once cleaned, then wash your car and re-wax it. I've used WD for tar/bugs on mine and my fathers car and have not seen it do any sort of damage to anything so far, so I believe it's safe.

i wouldn't use WD-40. it's a lubricant/cleaner and it should stay that way. there's some products out there specifically made to remove bugs/tar as a prewash or spot treatment, like poorboy's bug squash.
Ojay, if you try it sometime on tar you'll understand. It works okay on bugs, but works very well on tar. Thats about all I tell you, you'd have to use it to understand. I know it sounds goofy, but I've cleaned up just about every panel on my dads car after he drove down some tar covered road and messed up his car. After cleaning, you can't tell it was ever there. I prefer it over the aggressive bug/tar remover I've had from the auto parts store.
