Tiny red spots on paint from salt on roads

I know these damn things aren't rust because they are on the plastic too. I only get them in winter and the only 'easy' way to get them off is with clay.
I'm almost positive it comes from the crap UDOT dumps on the roads, not that I mind a clear road, but they are hard crusty little red dots, and won't come off with soap.
Does anyone here have thoughts or experience with this paint plague?

that sucks, sorry. Clay is what I woulda recommended, but you got that down Claybar makes your car look good too. I live in AZ, so I have no idea what they are, no snow in my city, well every 9 or 10 years we get a little bit

Clay would be the way to go.

Most likely those little red dots are contamination in the paint. Not sure what it comes from but it could be thousands of things. I see a lot of rail dust on paint and it shows up the worst on white, not sure what color your ride is. Click the link below to learn a little more.

^ Thank you, that is excatly what they look like. My car is white so it's worse (or better so I can see the problem). I knew the car wasn't rusted, but those dots sure are. I still can't figure out why they only show in winter.

Well let the claying will begin.

No problem! Glad I could offer some help. Let us know how the claying goes.
