Using clay bar strips off the protectants from the paint (and every thing else). After you use the bar defintely wax the car ASAP.

after you clay, use meguiars 3 step system (deep crystal paint cleaner, polish, and then carnauba wax) it takes time, but is worth it!

the clay bar will not remove clear coat or hurt the paint, it's non-abrasive. here's a link, on how to do it properly ----> http://store.yahoo.com/autopia/inf-clay.html

It removes everything on the clear coat like wax. After clay, you should glaze/polish first, then wax after that.

1st. Claying strips away bonded contaminants and wax off the clear coat, for the new wax to bond better and last longer.

2nd. Polish nurishes the paint of valuable oils to bring out a high gloss and color.

3rd. Wax seals the polishing oils you put in and protects the cleat coat as well.
