Can someone explain to me what a clay bar is and what it does? Ive been reading so many post of people saying that they use it, but still havent figured out what the hell it does.

claying gets rid of the contaminants that washing can't get. as i've said before many of times... if you visually look at your car after you've washed it, it may look clean but it's thoroughly not. there are little bonded contaminants that stick to your car's finish that won't come off with just ordinary washing. first... wash and dry your car thoroughly! second... take the clay bar/spray and spray a 3x3 section on your car as well as on the clay bar and gently glide in a up & down motion (not circles) and look and feel for roughnes/smoothness, and wipe away excess with microfiber towel. now... look at the clay bar after you've done just that little section. you'll see all kinds of dirt, black dots, contaminants that are on it. eventually over time if you don't do this... it will etch into your clear coat/paint and ruin it (like that sandpaper look & feel). i recommend a coat of wax after doing this for the best results! gosh... i can't think of how many people i've turned onto claying. most people think washing, drying, and waxing is enough. but it's not! this step is what help's preserve your finish and keeps it looking shiny as glass. it will still look as though if you've just bought it off the dealership lot!
