Whats price range for mechanic to swap engine?
Whats price range for mechanic to swap engine?
My 2004 EX ceased. I've located a bunch of engines at junk yards in the $500-600 range. How much should I expect to pay a mechanic to install the engine? How many hours does this involve?
Additionally, other than the mileage, what should I considered when purchasing the new engine? Is there a way to judge it's condition?
Any advice is appreciated.

You should have your mechanic source the engine for you. You'll be looking for a low mileage engine, with good compression and leak down tests, and it must be from an 04/05.
$1000 would be a fair price, but that labour rates vary regionally and additional work may be required.
