d17 kpro?????
ok this maybe a stupid question but i just got to thinking after i pulled my motor today. would the kpro for the d17 work with a k motor? i know i would have to do some wiring with the harness but im not too concerned about that cuz its not as hard as you think(ive already moved the pics on the k20 harness i have.)
just lemme know if this is a retarded question just cuz i havent thought this through a whole lot. and one of my other friends was thinking about this too when we were pulling his b17 outta his first gen teg.

Re: d17 kpro?????
Yes, its a retarded question, lol. The only difference is a cam gear. In other words, the ecu programming is identical. But if you buy it for a d17, you get a cam gear that's useless. And you may pay a little more.

Re: d17 kpro?????
it's not a retarded question at all. It could have a totally different flash that could be useless for a k series motor. No questin is stupid unless you don't ask it.

Re: d17 kpro?????
Its not a flash. Its a fully programmable ECU, you can load up anything you want into it, and you gotta use a K series ECU board to do it. Intuitively... it would run a K series.

Re: d17 kpro?????
I see what your saying, but for andyman to say it was a retarded question wasn't right. Not many people know if can be changed back and forth or the features it has.

Re: d17 kpro?????
The cam gear is useless on the K series, you use the cam gear on the D17, and the cam gear is the AEM cam gear, they just use it for the Kpro.

Re: d17 kpro?????
Why the trickery?
Why even sell it with the cam?
I guess my true question is why market it as a custom cam and say in the description it has "special teeth?"
What advantage does that hold?
Or does it just make them look special!

Re: d17 kpro?????
The timing marks are reversed so the K ECU reads them in the right order. it is a "special" gear, you cant use a regular AEM gear.
Re: d17 kpro?????
If you look at the motor from the timing belt side, the cam signal pickup tooth is to the right of one of the four teeth. On the K pro AEM gear, its on the left. Like boiler said, the k series ecu spins in a different direction, its the easiest way to use a k series ecu on a d17 because the motors spin in opposite directions.

also note that if you decide to upgrade the motor its the exact same ecu you use for the K motors.. You can sell the cam to another D17 guy who wants it. All they gotta do is get the ecu.
Re: d17 kpro?????
Yeah, you can run kpro on ANY dohc ivtec manual tranny ecu. Hondata will program them the same way and they all have the same functions. Just the maps vary slightly as far as functions with which one you choose to build on.

Re: d17 kpro?????
I have a civic d17a2 2004 ex with a GT28 Turbo, i am from Mexico near of the border with Texas US. I bought a k-pro installed in a RSX ECU with the cam gear and a hondata map. I went to el paso Texas in order to install and tune the k-pro but my car has almost 2 months in the shop, they already installed the k-pro but when they start the engine the rpm can not go up on the 5K rmp, the engine is turned off at the 5k rpm. They have been talking with the hondata owners and they say the program is OK but the k-pro doest't works!!! when they installed back again the stock ECU and the stock cam gear all works fine, the engine can go up the 5k rmp.
I thing you have a hondata in your car right? i'll talk with the hondata owners because i want my money back, but if there is an answer to fix this problem, i would like to know, i prefer my car with hondata that my money back.
