i need some general help with my D17A1 civic
so about a year ago I got into the Honda scene and i got my first car and didn't think nothing about it until i started getting that itch to go faster
I have a 2001 Honda civic LX EM2 with a D17A1 i was wondering if i was better off rebuilding this engine and boosting or swapping to a b series or a k series
If anyone could help and give recommendation i highly appreciate it

Get B-Swap out of your head now. It's not happening. K-swap is good if you're willing to drop a few thousand into it (and that's if you do it yourself), and same with boost.
Honestly, just get a car with a B or K series in it already. It's easier, cheaper and you'll have a better building platform.
Think of it this way: $5000 for a K-swapped civic or $2500 for an RSX with the K already in it.
Just to clarify: There is no aftermarket for getting a B-series into a 7th gen. It's incredibly difficult to make work. I had an Integra and I loved that, so I'd recommend that over anything else. It cost me the same as my EM2

In terms of cost:
Most expensive - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Least Expensive
Swapping > Boosting > Selling your car and buying something faster > Nitrous
True for basically any car, not just Civics.

How much power do you want to make and how much money do you want to spend?
Re: i need some general help with my D17A1 civic
I vote sell for rsx
however if you love your car, you can do the fallowing. All of the below mods will work if you boost it later, and you can do them over time, so you don't need to spend all the money at once, like a boost build.
-d17a1 to a2 conversion (head, ecu, antitheft re-program) $400
-camshaft upgrade $350
-diy port head by 1/4" (dremel tool) $100
-ihe $700
total = $1550
hp gain I can only speculate on since I never dyno'd the above, but probably up from 110hp, to 140hp.
