2005 CVT repair options
2005 CVT repair options
I have a 2005 Civic Hybrid with 44,000 miles on it. It has the CVT transmission, which has failed. Which has the best suggestion? a rebuild by a local shop recommended by the Honda Dealer or a remanufactured unit from Car Parts Planet? Any suggestions?
Re: 2005 CVT repair options
Either a dealership or some remanufactured are your only real options. I suspect they're priced uneconomically, though. Both would have some warranty attached so I guess it's whichever you'd rather. What makes you think it's failed? 44k seems unusually low.
Re: 2005 CVT repair options
Two Honda dealers looked at it and confirmed that it needed to be replaced. Can't say exactly what they determined was wrong. Symptoms was a loud pop and then it wouldn't shift in any gear. I suspect that it was the belt/chain but I am not a mechanic.
