Rep Power: 0 Input bearing shaft - cost of replacement.
hey guys, i've been reading many threads and all they said is how to know if your problem is or isnt the input bearing shaft. or what they think or how to replace it yourself and the cost of the Input bearing shaft.
but what i want to know is, how much would a shop charge me to replace the bearing? i'm from Tucson, AZ.
and i'm asking for a shop, not Honda dealership.
i would do it my self but i don't the place and tools to do it.

Transmission shops usually charge around $250 to remove the tranny and crack it open to see what's wrong. This should be your first question....it'll give you a baseline so you know how much they're actually charging to fix the tranny.
If you feel your tranny is in good shape then tell the guy you only want the input shaft bearing replaced. From what I've heard and read our trannies are actually very well built and can easily do 200k before you really need to tear it down, just the input shaft has been causing problems for years.
It shouldn't take an experienced tech more than a couple hours to tear apart the transmission, replace the bearing, and put it back together. It's a pretty simple job.
Add a clutch install too, won't pay too much extra in labor and I'm sure it will need replaced sooner than later. I have 120k on the original clutch on my '05 and is about done.
I would guess around $1000-$1200. You may get lucky and find an honest shop who will do it for around $800. Just call around. The bearing is only like $30 and the clutch $130 so the majority of the work is labor.
Get an Exedy clutch if you have the option. Oriley sells em.

I'll second every word that anibis suggested. I have a 2005 LX and had them do the bearing while they were down there working on a new clutch - picked an Exedy. I hit around the $800 area, and took it to a performance shop. He's a little slow, but I've never had to take the car back for a second repair. Try pricing around, that's how I found 'em!
