New heater problem

All summer long the temperature gauge stayed normal..then this morning with cool temperatures I turned the heater on and the temperature gauge shot up to H. Without the heater on it goes back to normal..any help

I bled the system in the middle of the Ravens game because I couldn't hold up to the way that game was going..lol .but, after bleeding and filling up about a quart and a half of coolant, I tested it this morning and everything is fine..(including the Ravens' game)
