oxygen sensor STILL gives P0134
oxygen sensor STILL gives P0134
On a 2005 Civic: The mechanic installed a new oxygen sensor in September 2020, which eliminated the following two codes:P0135 OBD-II: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0134 OBD-II: O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
But every couple of months since then, I get the P0134 code again! Once, I *think* I solved it by shoving the sensor's connector harness more tightly into its socket.
Is this just a case of a loose connector harness, or something more serious?
Every time this happens, I use the OBD code reader to clear the code, but it keeps coming back. And the state inspection is due in two months
This is the O2 sensor I bought in September:
Amrxuts 234-9017 Upstream Sensor 1 Air Fuel Ratio Oxygen Sensor
for Honda 2004-2005 Civic EX Acura EL 1.7L l4 192400-1170 36531-PLR-003
Sold by: Shunmiao Auto Parts
The mechanic installed this as the Front O2 sensor, i.e. directly on the engine manifold. (The other O2 sensor is under the middle of the car, on the .. catalytic converter?)

Purchase an OEM sensor. Honda's don't take well to aftermarket crap. OEM will be Denso or NTK. Spend the money; it'll be close to $100 or it's fake.

You bought a cheap crappy sensor.
go buy the correct Denso one, and buy one that's at least $80 cheaper ones will be fake

It's the upstream sensor on an 04-05. It's gonna be more than $100. Likely gonna be closer to $300. Honda put in wideband AFR sensors for bank 1 starting in 2004 model years
Re: oxygen sensor STILL gives P0134
Thanks all - I appreciate the advice. Sounds like I should just take it to the Honda dealership and let them install their own OEM part? (I'm sure they'll charge me several hundred dollars extra
)
Or should I just buy a Denso from amazon and let my same mechanic install the Denso?
Is it possible to compare the specs of the Amrxut vs. Denso sensors? Is the Amrxut not wideband? How could I tell?
I see a Denso sensor on amazon now for $182 ("List Price $358.38"), and the one I bought (Amrxuts) was just $63. I wasn't trying to get a cheap part - I didn't know that Denso or NTK were better, or "OEM". It was trouble enough finding the correct model number.

Since you’re getting it replaced, I would let the mechanic/dealership get the part. They won’t warranty parts you bring in if it doesn’t fix it the problem.

Re: oxygen sensor STILL gives P0134
It's a 5 min job, especially since it was just replaced.
You could buy the sensor from rockauto if you want to be more confident that you're getting a legit part.
Then buy an o2 sensor socket
