05 civic dies when i take my foot off the accelerator.

we changed the head gasket and head. Now its like it is in limp mode or something. As long g as I give it gas it will run. As soon as i release the accelerator it dies. Can someone please tell me what I've done? Thank you in advance.
also we got back into the motor and checked that we were not 180 out of time.

180 out is impossible,

But timing belt installed incorrectly by 1 or more teeth can make it run like poop.
Got fault codes? Vacuum leaks? Valve clearance adjustments done correctly?

Only asking because I made this mistake...

Is the Cam Position Sensor in properly?

Did you replace any sensors? Did you use OEM sensors or cheap AutoZone sensors?

One thing I will add: It should run in limp mode, though very poorly (at least mine did) if the sensor isn't in. Timing would be where I look first.
