If those aren't any good, I'll get a Denso. They're $27 at Rock Auto, I think with the OE size connector.

You have an 04 which needs a wideband sensor that is more expensive than a normal one. Let me ask, what does your gut feeling tell you about buying a $17 02 sensor?

Make sure you get a wideband one. Generally if they are under100 bucks they aren't any good. Denso is the OEM manufacturer. I wouldn't buy anything but.

The 155 dollar denso from rock auto is actually a really good price. Buy it and it will last you another 9 years unless your having catalytic issues and plugging up the sensor.

If Denso is the OEM, and they have a Denso for $27, why are they're no good if under $100? What's the difference? Is it not wideband? I did put in my car so wouldn't Rock Auto show the correct parts?

Well my since you asked, gut feeling tells me that over the years I've saved a lot of money by not buying the most expensive items, and with car parts, not always buying OEM, just because some paranoid folks on the forums insist that you have to. And that many people the most expensive things just because of brand name, or just because of the price, thinking it has to be better if it costs more. And that in some cases, the cheaper route sometimes gets me a better item, or at least better for me (ie. my Android vs people buying Apple just on name and price). Or my gut tells me that I've seen the same item sold at two different locations for a huge price difference. Or that I've seen the same two items sold under different brand names at a huge price difference. In other words, the price doesn't determine my final decision in a purchase. Thats why I came here to see if anyone has tried them. They could be junk, but they could very easily work very well. Never know.

You buy an android tablet that is comparable to an ipad for 75% of the cost lets say. If that android tablet were 10% of the cost wouldn't that tell you something about the quality? I am not one of the people that always go OEM (I rarely do-usually Advance Auto parts)and there is a place and time for buying things on ebay-and that's for things that aren't going to harm your car or your safety if they end up malfunctioning. I'm freakin cheap-I'm a college student so I get trying to save some cash. However, if your 02 sensor ends up not working like it should (it will if you buy one for $17) and starts sending faulty info, best case scenario is your car performs like total crap and you get the mpg of an f350. Worst case? You fry your catalytic converter and need to buy a new one and have it installed along with plugs and other components. Worth it?

There is a huge difference. You won't find a wideband o2 sensor for under 100 dollars ever. In 2004 they went wideband on civics and they are much more expensive. You can go ahead and get the 27 dollar one but it simply won't work. If you had a 2001 honda civic you could get the 27 dollar one and be fine because it's a completely different part. Trust me, buy the proper one so you don't have problems or you will be wasting your money.

The 27 dollar Denso is a great o2 sensor but it's just not for your car.

We aren't paranoid on the forum. Were educated, and we know more about cars about our cars than people who make the accusation that we are paranoid. Do it right the first time or you will be doing it right again shortly after. Some people do it 6 times in one year before they decide to do it right.
