CKP Sensor Problem in 2002 LX

Hello,

My 2002 LX stalled on me a week ago and the malfunction indicator light came on upon re-ignition. Since that time, the car has intermittently had hard ignitions and stalled on me an additional time. I had the OBD code read and was told it was a problem with the crankshaft position sensor, although I foolishly forgot to copy the exact OBD code down. I know I should get the exact code down, but was wondering whether the CKP could be the cause of the problems I've been experiencing, as I've read elsewhere on the forum that the real culprit behind such a reading could be the distributor.

Thanks a lot for your time.

Get that info.

but was wondering whether the CKP could be the cause of the problems I've been experiencing,
Yes.
If it really is a CKP code, pull the connector off and look for evidence of corrosion of the electrical terminals in the sensor and its connector. Somewhat common problem with water getting in there and causing problems.

I've read elsewhere on the forum that the real culprit behind such a reading could be the distributor.
Post a picture of your distributor first.

Those engines do not carry distributors. They use coil packs instead.

Re: CKP Sensor Problem in 2002 LX

When you buy the CKP sensor make sure it is in a sealed bag.
If it's not sealed you will likely be replacing it immediately due to buying a bad (used) sensor.
Buy a Beck/Arnley sensor.
